Creating a New Family of Systems to Ensure effective US Military Power Projection

New York, New York – The ability to conduct superior long-range strike operations has long given the US an important military advantage. But the DoD’s long-range strike “family of systems” (land-based bombers, carrier-based strike aircraft, cruise missiles and supporting airborne EA platforms) is in critical need of an upgrade, amidst fears that the US is currently at risk of losing its ability to effectively penetrate anti-access/area denial (A2/AD) battle networks.

side effects of prednisone 40 mg

In his January 2011 speech on the defense budget Secretary Gates stated “It is important that we begin this project now to ensure that a new bomber can be ready before the current again fleet goes out of service. The follow on bomber represents a key component of a joint portfolio of conventional deep strike capabilities – an area that should be a high priority for future defense investment given the anti-access challenges our military faces”

In response to the demand for greater detail on these new requirements and future programs IDGA is running Long-Range Strike Summit to discuss strategic capabilities and the need for an updated family of systems. Most importantly this event will focus on the joint service strategy that is critical to meeting the overarching objective of global access.

One of the featured speakers at the Long-Range Strike Summit is The Honorable Dr. Donald Cook, Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs, National Nuclear Security Administration, speaking of the Science and technology advancements for improved maintenance of nuclear munitions and rapid response capabilities for the DoD including:

Maintaining and enhancing the safety, security and reliability of the US nuclear weapons stockpile
Current efforts to revitalize the entire nuclear weapons complex to be smaller, safer, more secure and more efficient.

The summit also offers a Pre Summit Focus day that will present cutting edge propulsion technology to improve the range and effectiveness of long-range strike and supporting ISR capabilities.

IDGA’s Long-Range Summit takes place in Washington, DC from September 12-14, 2011. For more information or to register please visit www.longrangestrike.com

L-3 Communications Corporation: Defense Manufacturing in the Future

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

Bruce Weinberg, a speaker at the marcus evans Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing Summit 2011, on creating an environment of continuous improvement.

Interview with: Bruce Weinberg, Vice President Operations, L-3 Communications Corporation

Hollywood, FL, USA December 9, 2010 – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Aerospace and defense manufacturers need to provide change at much higher speeds as the industry heads towards downsizing, says Bruce Weinberg, Vice President – Operations at L-3 Communications Corporation. They must look internally to create an environment of continuous improvement. A speaker at the marcus evans Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing Summit 2011 in Hollywood, Florida, February 9-11, Weinberg shares his thoughts on creating efficiencies, production optimization and growth areas in the industry today.

What does the future hold for the aerospace and defense manufacturing industry?

Bruce Weinberg: The biggest challenge for the aerospace and defense manufacturing industry today is creating an environment of continuous improvement whilst experiencing downsizing. While our businesses shrink, we have to keep our eyes on improving, sustaining that improvement and improving the overall cost and quality of products. Our customer base is unique – soldiers depend on our products with their lives. We must focus not just on what we can do from a product perspective but also look at our internal processes; sustainability is going to be the key with the restructuring of budgets that will take place.

What strategies for creating efficiencies would you recommend?

Bruce Weinberg: We have many tools available to address industry challenges. Six Sigma Solutions are great tools for achieving the improvements that are needed.

When we talk about implementing Lean Six Sigma, many people think of Kaizen Events and Value Stream Mapping. However, processes for in-house audits and ownership also need further development. To maintain the higher levels of achievement realized through Six Sigma, everyone has to understand why in-house audits are necessary. Sustainment is the key challenge, yet it is also the key for improvement.

We should evaluate all processes and take advantage of all available technologies. Technology changes so quickly that manufacturing directors have to recognize the speed in which they are able to provide change. I like referring to the McDonald’s philosophy, where customers pull up to one window to place an order and go to the next window to pick it up. We need to deliver innovative products at the speed that McDonald’s has been able to. We can learn how to do this better.

Where are the areas for growth in this industry?

Bruce Weinberg: There are many new technologies available to improve both products and manufacturing processes. It is about knowing your customers and their needs, and pulling the right mix of technologies for the business base.

The defense world will be facing lower volumes of sales for several years, therefore niche products that address industry issues will be key now and in the future to come.

The 2009 14th Annual Summit on the Medicaid Drug Rebate Program Announces Former HHS Secretary Tom Daschle as Keynote Speaker

Monday, May 25th, 2009

New York, NY, May 26, 2009 – IIR, the world’s leading knowledge and skills transfer company, is pleased to announce the former Senator Tom Daschle as keynote speaker of the 14th Annual Summit on the Medicaid Drug Rebate Program, September 21-23, 2009, Chicago, IL.

One of the most influential men in Washington today, Tom Daschle is a former senator whose lifelong passion and commitment to public service and healthcare reform is undeniable. As Senate majority and minority leader from 1994 2005 and the architect of President Obama’s healthcare plan, he is an outspoken advocate for reform, and a well-connected voice between the healthcare industry and Washington policy-makers. His recent book, Critical: What We Can Do About the Healthcare Crisis, offers exciting new solutions on changing America’s healthcare system which provides the framework for Obama’s plan. Senator Daschle is also actively involved in the Bipartisan Policy Center, with Senators Howard Baker, Bob Dole, and George Mitchell, and in both the public and private sector, remains dedicated to finding common ground between conservatives and liberals on the issues that impact us all.

Anne Reel, the Director of IIR’s 14th Annual Medicaid Drug Rebate Summit, says, the pharmaceutical manufacturers are keenly interested in how the current political landscape will change, especially how these changes affect Medicaid reimbursements. Tom Daschle can help the manufacturers understand the new solutions to changing America’s healthcare system and provide the framework for Obama’s Plan. The manufacturers have devoted more internal resources to adapt to new MDRP processes resulting from the DRA and are incurring increased costs due to pending litigations and planning compliance strategies. With insights gathered from our Advisory Board and intensive market research, our annual three-day summit continues to be the top destination for key pharmaceutical manufacturers, state Medicaid professionals, attorneys, experienced consultants, government agency representatives, enforcement agencies, legislative and policy groups.

About the Medicaid Drug Rebate Program Summit

The Medicaid Drug Rebate Program Summit, created and developed by IIR, is the Nation’s largest cross-functional Rebate Program Summit offering CMS representatives explaining implementation strategies for DRA compliance, OIG describing lessons learned from current litigations, updated information by NACDS detailing the AMP litigation, organized dispute resolution meetings facilitated by CMS and more.

The event is designed for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Managers and Directors working in Medicaid Rebates, Government Affairs and Contracting, Public Policy, Pricing, Finance/Accounting, Sales/Marketing, Legal Counsel, Pharmacy, Accountant, Pharmacy Contracts and Rebates.
