BITEC, a favourite industrial and B2B events venue, formally announces today it plans to increase the percentage share of lifestyle events to 45% of its total events portfolio by 2013, compared to 32% in 2010. The move will avail the upscale and middle class neighborhood near and around BITEC, which remained has untapped to date.
“A total of 40 exhibitions were held at BITEC in 2010.Twenty-seven or 68% were industrial events, while 13 or 32%were lifestyle events. We are targeting to improve the percentage share of lifestyle events to 45% by the year 2013,” said Ms. PanitthaBuri, Director of Marketing & Sales, Director of Marketing and Sales, Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC).
“Overall, the number of events held in BITEC had been growing on average of 12% a year and in 2011 we will have over 45 exhibitions at our center,” she said.
“Our expansion of lifestyle events does not mean we are repositioning BITEC nor implying we are reducing our focus on industrial and B2B exhibitions,” said MsPanittha.
“Exhibition and eventsheld at BITEC, whether industrial, B2B or lifestyle can bank on the venue’s renowned operations team and proximity to the International airport,” she added.
“Our center will become even more accessible to participants with the completion of the BTS sky train which according to the BMA is due to start running to BITEC on 12 August, 2011. We are building a covered walkway connecting directly from the Sukhumvit Road to BITEC,” she said.
Ms. Panittha said lifestyle shows were complementary to industrial and B2B shows in the sense lifestyle exhibition or events would approach business visitors of B2B events as consumers with high purchasing power.
BITEC’s lifestyle events included Thailand International Furniture Fair (TIFF), Bangkok International Gift Fair and Bangkok International HousewareFair (BIG & BIH), Jim Thompson Sale, Homeworks Expo, Photo Fair and several furniture fairs.
Ms. Panitha said BITEC’s neighborhood was home to millions of consumers which had remained untapped to the fullest.
She said middle to high income communities, housing estates, residential condominiums, upper class international schools and office-shopping-residential clusters freckled the whole BITEC neighborhood.
Ms. Panittha cited Thailand International Furniture Fair (TIFF) and Bangkok International Gift Fair and Bangkok International HousewareFair (BIG & BIH) as the two most recent additions to BITEC’s lifestyle events portfolio.
TIFF was held at BITEC on 16-20 March and Bangkok International Gift Fair and Bangkok International Houseware Fair (BIG & BIH) will be held at BITEC on 19-24 April and 18-23 October 2011.

(Hong Kong, 1 March 2011) The Hong Kong Diecasting and Foundry Association (HKDFA) and Guangdong Foundry Industry Association (GDFIA) are pleased to announce the co-host of the 2011 International (Shenzhen) Metal Casting Show (IMCS) to be held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from 25-27 May 2011. Being the core industrial area for China’s die-casting and foundry industry, Southern China presents a huge market potential with high demand for a professional exhibition. Backed by the proven track record of the last three editions organized by HKDFA, IMCS will continue it success and reach new heights with the partnership of HKDFA and GDFIA in 2011. Many leading enterprises showed support by confirming their participations. The favourable feedback demonstrated the superiority of these two major non-profit trade associations to gather industry peers in organizing a professional trade show.
Established by the Hong Kong Foundry Association and Hong Kong Diecasting Association in July 2008, HKDFA is the only leading association in the industry and is highly recognized worldwide. As the leading industry association, GDFIA has nearly 100 members. By centralizing the resources of these two associations, 2011 IMCS serves as a major trade event in Southern China grouping industry elites not only from China, but also Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau and even Southeast Asia. At the moment, sales feedback of booth reservation is encouraging. Leading enterprises in the industry, such as Yizumi, Chit Shun, Ka Shui, Shunking, Pan Pacific, Acme Alliance, Hoi Hing, Lee Kee, Ultraform, Jeco Precision, L.K. Machinery, Dongguan Modern Metal Precision, Apex Rank, Cheong Fai, Wan Ho, Eontec, Konch, Hong Bang, Zhong Tian, Go Star, Foundry Metal Work, Ming Shing, etc. have already confirmed their participation. It is expected that the show will attract 150 exhibitors with number of booths exceeding 350. Exhibit categories to be displayed at the show range from die-casting equipments to die-castings and foundry raw materials, industrial automation technology, mold & die technology and foundry equipment and industrial furnaces technology. “Southern China needs a high-quality exhibition platform for closer communications and collaborations in order to boost the industry development. The partnership of 2011 IMCS just answers the needs of the industry,” said Tang Jie Xiong, president of GDFIA.
A series of high-quality onsite activities will be held concurrently with 2011 IMCS. Among them is 2011 China/Hong Kong/Taiwan Metal Casting Industry Co-operation Forum, which is organized by HKDFA and co-organized by China Foundry Association and Taiwan Casting Industry Association. The Forum will invite local and overseas enterprise representatives, industry experts and scholars to address an array of hot topics. The “Metal Casting Production Line Showcase” provides exhibitors with a high level of exposure in a diverse range of pre-show promotional materials. They can also introduce their products and technologies at the Industry Conference. The Best Casting Competition aims to enhance the quality of casting products and promote fine-quality casting. Meanwhile, Industry Conference will feature well-known experts and senior management executives as speakers, offering educational opportunities for visitors. 2011 IMCS not only offers exhibitors and visitors a trading platform for product procurement and order placing, but also various educational opportunities to obtain first-hand information.
Extensive show promotion and recruitment of high-quality visitors are the main highlights of 2011 IMCS. This is also the fundamental element for the success of the show. The Organizer’s database contains more than 100,000 buyer data, with industry covering electronics, transportation, heavy machinery, toys, gifts and accessories, petrochemical, automobile, lighting & hardware, computer and electrical appliances, bathroom metal ware and other related industries. An estimated 40% of these data are serious buyers with identified purchasing needs. A large-scale invitation will be kicked off in February to invite senior management executives and sourcing managers to the show. Coupled with a high level of media publicity and coverage, it is expected that 2011 IMCS will draw an attendance of over 15,000 buyers from China and Southeast Asia. “HKDFA and GDFIA will make use of their resources and network in China and Southeast Asia to mobilize their members and partners to invite buyers from all over the world. We expect the show to draw huge crowd,” said Fred Tam, president of HKDFA.
2011 IMCS received support from many industry associations, institutes and government departments. As the local host, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Guangzhou Sub-council (CCPIT-GZ) will secure support from the government and suggest a series of strategic recommendations for future development. Moreover, apart from 20 local and overseas media partners; a total of 23 industry associations (8 local and 15 overseas) will support the show and share their resources. These associations include China Foundry Association, Guangdong Mechanical Engineering Society (Division of Die-casting and Division of Foundry), China Auto Parts & Accessories Corporation, Federation of Hong Kong Machinery and Metal Industries, Hong Kong (SME) Economic and Trade Promotional Association, Taiwan Casting Industry Association, Keikinzoku Tsushin AL Co., Ltd. and more. Over 20,000 visitors are expected to get a first-hand glimpse at some of the finest watches in the world.
They say that one of the best ways to make a statement without saying a word is to make a big impression with what you wear. As far as style statements go, it’s hard to beat an exquisite timepiece around your wrist that says it all – style, class, precision, perfection and elegance. Dubai International Jewellery Week (DIJW), the region’s premier watch and jewellery exhibition, has earned a reputation over the years for being an event that is ahead of its time, and this year, the show is poised to sparkle more than ever with an exquisite collection of timepieces.
More than 500 brands, visitors, designers, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers from 30 countries are set to share the stage at this year’s event, with the finest collection of timepieces seen in the region all under one roof. Many of the luxury timepieces will be featured in Areeq Dubai, the ultra-luxurious arm of DIJW which will showcase brands from the crème-de-la crème of the jewellery world. The biggest brand names and the most prominent watch distributors and exhibitors from the region and beyond, including Bin Hendi, Charles Oudin and Breitling to name a few, will be vying for the spotlight at the three day event that will attract the finest of Dubai high society.
If any indication was needed about the rising demand for quality timepieces, it lies in the increased ad spend by the watch and jewellery industry. Brands are raising the bar and digging deep into their pockets to get noticed and stay a step ahead of the competition, resulting in the ad spend for last year alone clocking in at $151.9 million, a remarkable 16.6% increase from 2006*. With the watch assuming a significant standing as a status symbol, the need to be different and stand out from the crowd is at an all time high. Customization is in, and is here to stay, and DIJW 2008 will provide the perfect platform for a series of new launches, niche designs and futuristic trends that will be unveiled for the very first time.
Money is not a barrier for elite, high profile executives who seek individuality and exclusivenessâ€? says Mr. Haissam Chamsine, Senior Vice President for Watches and Jewellery at Bin Hendi, one of the key exhibitors. “Over the years we have catered for various special custom made watches with retail prices ranging from AED 2 million to AED 6 million. Our most popular orders would be customised dials with initials, names or logos in fancy coloured diamonds, as well as a choice of bracelets, Bezels with diamonds, pave or baguette. The precious metal used here varies from Yellow, Rose or white gold as well as the most expensive Platinum. These are of course limited to only one or two pieces of luxury, which guarantees individuality and exclusivity he adds. Bin Hendi’s elite customers, like Jacob & co, Ulysse Nardin, Franc Vila, Nubeo and De La Cour, have been a popular target for customisation. The group has also introduced the GoldVish, the latest, most exclusive and most expensive mobile phone in the market, which will now join the existing luxury brands to get an exclusive customized touch.
The GCC has always possessed a population that has a thorough understanding of quality jewellery and timepieces said Ms. Trixee Loh, Senior VP, Exhibitions and Events Management, Dubai World Trade Centre. This coupled with their high-spending power and a thriving per capita income makes the region a perfect market for high-end jewellery and timepieces, making DIJW which incorporates Areeq, the ideal place to get a first-hand feel of the best in the business he added.
With the biggest names in the industry, an extremely high glamour quotient, a series of new launches and special events and lots more in store, Dubai International Jewellery Week is one show that any connoisseur of fine jewellery and timepieces cannot afford to miss. The event will be held from 11 to 15 November 2008 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Jewellery Collections Dubai and Jewellery Trade Dubai, the Retail and Trade elements of the show will take place from 11 to 15 November, while the Luxury event Areeq Dubai will be held from 13 to 15 November.
