Arab Brand Summit
Feb 21, 2012 - Feb 22, 2012,
Harbours Edge Events Centre Dubai United Arab Emirates

Over the past decade, the Gulf has become increasingly more significant to local and global brands. As Arab countries develop, there is an expressed need to develop and market their own brands to the rest of the world. Additionally, there is massive interest amongst Arab companies in how to enter and penetrate this global market, which spans many industries, including finance, food and beverage, cosmetics, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, logistics, tourism, fashion, and others.

Aside from oil companies, global Arab brands include companies such as SABIC, the Arab Bank, Al Rajhi, Emirates, Etihad , Emaar , Nakheel, Al-Kharafi, and Dubai Ports. The Arab telecoms are also making significant gains internationalising with Etisalat from the UAE and Orascom from Egypt leading the way. The Arab hospitality sector, particularly Islamic hospitality, with itsplanned investments worth nearly 2 trillion USD, is a very promising sector.

With competition heating up in Arab countries, brands have become an effective way for a company to distinguish itself from its competitors in terms of corporate image and product offerings. Understanding local culture and beliefs is imperative for success. Arab companies have to cater to culturally sensitive and complex markets of national residents and expatriates. The key question for those building Arab brands is how to think globally and act locally.

2nd Annual Electronic Warfare Summit
Feb 21, 2012 - Feb 23, 2012,
To be confirmed United States

Electronic Warfare as we know it is in a state of flux. In OIF and OEF it was primarily used to detect and jam IED remote triggering devices. With OIF officially over Dec 31, 2011 and OEF drawdown beginning in 2012 there is a concern over the future of EW.

“There is fear out there that when we cease operations in Afghanistan and we’re no longer confronted by an IED threat that we’ll completely shelve the electronic warfare development and maturity,” Ekvall said. “I don’t believe there is a danger of that. I believe the senior leadership of the Army understands electronic warfare is more than just the defeat of IEDs.”

In other words, the Army, along with the other services are ramping up their efforts to enable their EW forces to have more tools and capabilities. This has much to do with China and North Korea’s recent efforts in Electronic Attack.

IDGA’s 2nd Annual Electronic Warfare Summit will discuss the latest technology available to deny the opponent the advantage of, and ensure friendly unimpeded access to, the EM spectrum.

WPMA National Convention & Convenience Store Expo 2012
Feb 21, 2012 - Feb 23, 2012,
Las Vegas, Nevada United States

The original name of the Association was Intermountain Oil Jobbers Association, as filed September 25, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah by N. J. Williams, President & Director. On September 25, 1964 the organization's name was changed from the "Intermountain Oil Jobbers Association" to "Intermountain Oil Marketers Association". A third name change came on May 28, 1985, when the membership voted to change the Association's name from Intermountain Oil Marketers Association to the "Western Petroleum Marketers Association" (WPMA), the name currently held. WPMA's main office is located in Taylorsville, Utah, a close neighbor to Salt Lake City.

WPMA is made up of seven separate state associations, including Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Washington. Originally, marketers from the states of Utah, Idaho, and Nevada formed the association with marketers from Arizona, Montana and Eastern Washington, known as the Inland Empire, joining soon after. Most of the states organized with their own officers in the late 1960's. Washington state marketers unified and joined the IOMA (WPMA) in 1982 with the Inland Empire in the east and the WOMA association in the west. The state of New Mexico joined the WPMA Association in January 1992, and Hawaii marketers became members in 1993. Each state association is organized with a President, Vice President, PMAA Director and area directors. Most have a State Executive who administers state programs under the direction of the State Board of Directors. These duties include lobbying state legislatures, representation before state government agencies, membership services, and state convention management. Each state provides three officers (President, Vice President and PMAA Director) who sit on the WPMA Board of Directors.
