The 10th European Congress of Stereology and Image Analysis
Jun 22, 2009 - Jun 26, 2009,
University of Milan, Milan, Lombardia Italy 20133

The International Society for Stereology (ISS), founded in 1961 and incorporated in 1963, includes members from the fields of mathematics, statistics, biology and materials science. The purpose of the Society is to promote the exchange and dissemination of information, amongst persons of various scientific disciplines and countries, regarding Stereology - nominally the science of determining the spatial structure of materials - on the basis of sections and projections through the materials. Stereology also embraces the analysis of planar images per se, and three- dimensional probes of materials. A prime concern of the Society is all practical applications of Stereology. The ISS also promotes such associated fields as Image Analysis and Processing, Stochastic Geometry, Mathematical Morphology, Pattern Recognition, and Fractal Geometry.

A more recent interest has arisen in Biology and Medicine with respect to the above mentioned keywords.

International Symposium on Computational Structural Engineering (CSE 2009)
Jun 22, 2009 - Jun 24, 2009,
Shanghai, China

Based on great progress in computing technology, whether in computer or programming technology, computation has become one of the most powerful tools for researchers and practicing engineers. It has led to tremendous achievements in computer-based structural engineering and there is evidence that this tendency will be accelerated. To acknowledge this trend, the Institute of Underground Engineering, Tongji University, and the Institute for Mechanics of Materials and Structures, Vienna University of Technology, will co-organize an International Symposium on Computational Structural Engineering in Shanghai, 22-24 June 2009, abbreviated as CSE 09. In recent years, concepts of simulation of structural behavior, virtual reality, super-computing, and intelligence approaches reinforced the impact on processes of design, construction, and maintenance of structures. CSE 09 aims at providing a forum for scientists, developers, and engineers to review novel research findings, to assess the suitability of new models, and to evaluate the robustness of advanced computational methods for investigation of the life-cycle of a structure.

4th International Conference on Cognitive Radio Oriented Wireless Networks and Communications (CrownCom 2009)
Jun 22, 2009 - Jun 24, 2009,
Courtyard Marriott Hannover Maschsee Hannover, Niedersachsen Germany

The owned spectrum allocation model in use today is believed to be obsolete. Firstly due to its intrinsic principle of fixed resource allocation that leads to a supposed spectrum scarcity, later revealed to be a question of non-efficient utilization. Secondly comes into play the need of introducing new wireless applications and services, which have experienced a huge growth in the last couple of decades, and are now supposed to cope with a multitude of already deployed standards. Both scenarios motivate the use of dynamic spectrum access in order to turn primary licensed networks into dynamic spectrum access networks (DSANs). This lends itself to cognitive radio, an enabling technology that will benefit several types of players and help to implement a more efficient approach regarding spectrum requirements in the future.
