- 20th NASTEC
-
Jun 14, 2009 - Jun 17, 2009,
Hotel Tanumstrand Grebbestad SwedenThe scope of the NASTEC is trace element analysis, using atomic spectroscopy or other measurement
techniques. NASTEC is organized on a rotating schedule within the Nordic countries, but anyone interested
from near or far is most welcome to participate. All participants are encouraged to present their
scientific work with a lecture or poster. Those having a suitable material to present (within the
scope of the conference) should send an abstract using a form, downloadable from the
conference website (“Information for authors”).
A healthy analytical community depends on sound and steady recruitment of young analysts. It is
of a great importance that these are integrated as early as possible in our information and social
network. We, the organizers of the 20th NASTEC, do therefore especially welcome participation
by students of analytical chemistry and other young analysts. - full details

- 3rd International Conference on Sensor Technologies and Applications (SENSORCOMM 2009)
-
Jun 14, 2009 - Jun 19, 2009,
Athens, GreeceThe SENSORCOMM 2009 (The Third International Conference on Sensor Technologies and Applications) is a multi-track event covering related topics on theory and practice on wired and wireless sensors and sensor networks.
Sensors and sensor networks have become a highly active research area because of their potential of providing diverse services to broad range of applications, not only on science and engineering, but equally importantly on issues related to critical infrastructure protection and security, health care, the environment, energy, food safety, and the potential impact on the quality of all areas of life.
As a multi-track event, SENSORCOMM 2009 will serve as a forum for researchers from the academia and the industry, professionals, standard developers, policy makers and practitioners to exchange ideas. The topics could be on techniques and applications, best practices, awareness and experiences as well as future trends and needs (both in research and practices) related to all aspects of information security, security systems and technologies. - full details
- 3rd International Conference on Emerging Security Information, Systems and Technologies (SECURWARE 2009)
-
Jun 14, 2009 - Jun 19, 2009,
Athes, Attiki GreeceThe SECURWARE 2009 The Third (International Conference on Emerging Security Information Systems and Technologies) is an event covering related topics on theory and practice on security, cryptography, secure protocols, trust, privacy, confidentiality, vulnerability, intrusion detection and other areas related to low enforcement, security data mining, malware models, etc.
Security, defined for ensuring protected communication among terminals and user applications across public and private networks, is the core for guaranteeing confidentiality, privacy, and data protection. Security affects business and individuals, raises the business risk, and requires a corporate and individual culture. In the open business space offered by Internet, it is a need to improve defences against hackers, disgruntled employees, and commercial rivals. There is a required balance between the effort and resources spent on security versus security achievements. Some vulnerability can be addressed using the rule of 80:20, meaning 80% of the vulnerabilities can be addressed for 20% of the costs. Other technical aspects are related to the communication speed versus complex and time consuming cryptography/security mechanisms and protocols. - full details
- 2nd International Conference on Advances in Mesh Networks (MESH 2009)
-
Jun 14, 2009 - Jun 19, 2009,
Athens, GreeceThe wireless mesh networks came to rescue the challenging issues related for predicting the location of a user and choosing the position of access points in wireless distributed systems. Basically mesh networks guarantee the connectivity through a multihop wireless backbone formed by stationary routers. There is no differentiation between uplink and downlink, but performance depends on the routing protocols. There are several challenging issues for properly exploiting wireless mesh networks' features, such as fast-link quality variation, channel assignments, performance, QoS-routing, scalability, slow/high speed mobile users, service differentiation, and others.
MESH 2009 builds on the previous edition to address the most challenging aspects for designing and deploying mesh networks - full details
- 1st International Conference on Advances in Future Internet (AFIN 2009)
-
Jun 14, 2009 - Jun 19, 2009,
Athens, GreeceThe diversity of the Internet-based offered services requires a fair handling of transactions for financial applications, scalability for smart homes and ehealth/telemedicine, openness for web-based services, and protection of the private life. Different services have been developed and are going to grow based on future Internet mechanisms. Identifying the key issues and major challenges, as well as the potential solutions and the current results paves the way for future research.
AFIN 2009, The First International Conference on Advances in Future Internet, opens a series of events dealing with advances on future Internet mechanisms and services. - full details
- 2nd International Conference on Dependability (DEPEND 2009)
-
Jun 14, 2009 - Jun 19, 2009,
Athens, GreeceThe international conference on dependability, DEPEND 2009, is based on the positive participation and feedback at DEPEND 2008 workshop that addressed new approaches dealing with today's limitations and potential solutions.
As a particular case, design, development, and validation of tools for incident detection and decision support became crucial for security and dependability in complex systems. It is challenging how these tools could span different time scales and provide solutions for survivability that range from immediate reaction to global and smooth reconfiguration through policy based management for an improved resilience. Enhancement of the self-healing properties of critical infrastructures by planning, designing and simulating of optimized architectures tested against several realistic scenarios is also aimed.
DEPEND 2009 will provide a forum for detailed exchange of ideas, techniques, and experiences with the goal of understanding the academia and the industry trends related to the new challenges in dependability on critical and complex information systems. - full details
