GameNets 2009 - International Conference on Game Theory for Networks
May 20, 2009 - May 22, 2009,
Istanbul, Marmara, Turkey

Game theory provides a formal mathematical framework to study complex interactions among interdependent rational players. For more than half a century, game theory has led to revolutionary developments in economics, and has also found important applications in politics, sociology, psychology, engineering, and transportation.

This conference, which will be held on the campus of Boğaziçi University, in Istanbul, Turkey, will bring together researchers who apply game theory to analyze, design, and assess the performance of networks. We hope to highlight synergies between various related research areas and encourage discussions regarding the benefits and limitations of game theory as a performance assessment and design tool for networks. Both the application of game theory to networking problems and the development of new game-theoretic methodologies that can be applied in that context are of interest. The conference will feature plenary talks, organized sessions focused on specific topics, and contributed papers. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

* Distributed network resource allocation
* Trust and reputation management
* Security assessment and enhancement
* Dynamic spectrum assignment and management
* Cognitive radio networks
* Dynamic topology formation in networks
* Incentives for cooperation in networks
* Node mobility and route adaptation
* Fairness in forwarding and medium access
* Peer to peer and overlay networks
* Network pricing
* Multiple service provider interactions
* Powerline communication networks
* Electrical power networks
* Formation of social networks
* Biological networks
* Biologically-inspired network design
* Applicability and limitations of game theory in the networking domain

9th International ASTM/ESIS Symposium on Fatigue and Fracture Mechanics (37th ASTM National Symposium on Fatigue and Fracture Mechanics)
May 20, 2009 - May 22, 2009,
Hyatt Regency Vancouver Vancouver, British Columbia Canada

The objective of this symposium is to provide a forum to disseminate state-of-the-art analysis methodologies and testing techniques in the areas of fatigue and fracture mechanics. In particular, application of emerging analytical tools and novel experimental techniques to assess the durability of engineering structures and to identify the associated damage mechanisms in materials are solicited. Three major tracks are planned for the symposium: fatigue and fracture of structures and materials under 1) Thermomechanical and 2) Multiaxial loading conditions and 3) Application of Cohesive Zone and Damage Models to Fracture Problems. Of particular interest are papers that demonstrate how these advanced failure models can be used to overcome the limitations of conventional fracture parameters. Materials considered for the symposium include metallic alloys, intermetallics, monolithic ceramics, all types of composites and coatings. Papers are solicited on the following topics:

* Deformation, fatigue, crack growth and fracture under thermomechanical and multiaxial loading conditions
* Examples and recommendations for using either Cohesive Zone or Damage Models to predict fracture behavior
* Fatigue, crack growth and fracture in specially engineered materials with heterogeneous microstructures and properties
* Estimation of fatigue life and crack growth in the presence of multiple damage mechanisms such as creep and fatigue, corrosion and fatigue and wear and fatigue
* Effects of coatings and environments on fatigue and fracture of structures and materials
* Fatigue and fracture of thin structural films, electronic materials and microelectromechanical systems
* Novel experiments for monitoring damage during cyclic loading of structures and materials
* Experience with standard practices for thermomechanical and multiaxial fatigue and fracture testing including interlaboratory studies
* Deformation and damage mechanisms in materials subjected to cyclic loading
* Combined experimental and analytical methods to track damage and estimate remaining life for ensuring integrity of structures
