- 12th World Congress on Public Health
-
Apr 27, 2009 - May 1, 2009,
Istanbul TurkeyAs the organizing committee, founded in 1993, the Turkish Public Health Association (TPHA) is a volunteer, non-profit and an international nongovernmental organization bringing health workers throughout Turkey together for professional exchange, collaboration and action. We are delighted and honoured to invite you to attend the World Federation of Public Health Association 2009 Congress in Istanbul/Turkey.
In global health policies the importance Civil Society Organizations is increasing with an incredible pace and influence and are having profound impacts on health. People, as part of the civil society, form the core of health systems. They use health services, contribute finances, are care givers and have a role in developing health policies and in shaping health systems. One of the most significant developments in the recent past has been the 1978 Alma Ata declaration, which is considered a landmark for recognising people’s participation in health systems as central to Primary Health Care and for recognising the role that organised social action plays in securing health gains.

- 15th European Symposium on Improved Oil Recovery
-
Apr 27, 2009 - Apr 29, 2009,
Paris FranceThe 15th European Symposium on Improved Oil Recovery will be held in Paris, a beautiful international meeting place. In recent years the search for extra reserves from existing fields has intensified significantly. The two main drivers are the need for extra oil in the medium and long term and the increasing oil price, which makes it possible to apply more costly recovery techniques. Therefore, there has been an increased level of activity since the previous meeting in Cairo in April 2007, with more complex Enhanced Oil Recovery technologies being tested and applied. The European Symposium is an ideal place to share and learn what oil nd service companies have done and are planning to do. Due to the urgency there is not much room for long-term testing and collaboration on technical innovations can be the key to success. Technical presentations may also be a source of inspiration in meeting your individual challenges. The European Symposium has established itself over the past 30 years as a meeting where such inspiration can be found for both seasoned specialists and young professionals.

- Organic Photovoltaics 2009
-
Apr 27, 2009 - Apr 29, 2009,
Doubletree Hotel, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania United StatesNow in its third year, Organic Photovoltaics 2009 set for April 2009 in Philadelphia, PA, US is the industry’s only conference dedicated exclusively to the applications, technological developments and markets for organic photovoltaics (OPV).
The opportunity for organic photovoltaic (OPV) technologies is tremendous. Emerging in the past decade, OPV is still an extremely young field compared to the traditional silicon-based PV technologies that currently dominate over 90% of the PV market. As efficiencies and lifetimes improve, OPV promises an alternative to traditional PV that diversifies the market and bypasses issues of silicon supply as the PV industry is just beginning to see the end of a shortage that has plagued the market in recent years. OPV technologies are low cost, light weight and flexible. These characteristics enable new and different niche applications and make organic solar cells increasingly attractive for some existing PV applications.
At Organic Photovoltaics 2009, attendees will meet and network with important players, key innovators and decision makers from the technical and business sides of the PV, OPV and organic and printed electronics industries.
With individual presentations from leading companies, panel discussions, pre-conference seminars and numerous networking functions, this important technical and business conference is a must attend event for anyone interested in the advancement of organic photovoltaics!

- 3rd Annual Paragraph IV Disputes
-
Apr 27, 2009 - Apr 28, 2009,
New York, New York United StatesIn its third year, ACI's conference on Paragraph IV Disputes is the ONLY event where both brand name and generic companies can come to hear insights from a top-notch faculty on every facet of Paragraph IV litigation, from pre-litigation concerns to the commencement of the suit to final adjudication – and every step in between.
With hundreds of billions of dollars in product sales currently subjected to Paragraph IV litigation, it is imperative that both brand and generic companies, and their counsel, have the offensive moves and defensive plays they respectively need in this high stakes arena of pharmaceutical patent endgame litigation.
Both branded and generic companies need to assess the risks and benefits of Paragraph IV challenges early on and make business decisions about potential litigation strategies accordingly. Evolving obviousness standards and new CAFC cases have only added to already strategically complex and costly litigation. In addition, the FTC's stance on settlements in this area complicates matters even further as settlement options are limited and potentially subject to antitrust liability. Finally, convoluted statutory guidelines on forfeiture and other regulatory provisions may change the way companies approach the litigation overall.]
In this high stakes and ruthless endgame, not a moment can be lost. Featuring preeminent patent litigators and in-house industry experts from both branded and generic companies, along with representatives from the FTC and preeminent judges, you cannot afford to miss this event. Don't delay - this conference does sell out - ensure your seat by reserving your spot now! - full details
- 12th Advanced Forum on Structuring,Negotiating and Managing Pharma/Biotech Collaborative Agreements
-
Apr 27, 2009 - Apr 28, 2009,
San Francisco, California United StatesWith pipelines drying up, patent expirations at an all time high and R&D costs through the roof, the stakes in negotiating and maintaining lucrative licensing and collaborations could not be higher. But as the critical nature of these deals increases, so do the challenges and complexities.
Competition is increasing, laws are changing, and M&A activity is heating up. Further, IP valuation contingencies are arising in the wake of the Supreme Court's MedImmune decision, and parties are seeking greater protection for their IP rights and looking to draft termination provisions that allow both parties to walk away with their assets intact. In addition, selecting the right partners, deal structure and compensation analysis are crucial to the success of the deal, and an assessment of these factors must be done early in the process. Lastly, as biotech/pharma look more and more to collaborate with the government and institutional researchers for a competitive edge, they face a distinct culture clash that leads to wheel-spinning, preventing agreements from being reached.
Unlike any other licensing event, you will not only get the opportunity to network with and learn from a diverse, front-line faculty of experienced in-house counsel, licensing and business development executives from leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies, but you will also receive practical guidance on how to translate new laws and trends into a winning business strategy and overcome challenges and complexities in negotiating and maintaining the best deal available for your company's needs. - full details
