World Gold Conference 2009

The Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM), the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) and the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy & Petroleum (CIM) have jointly agreed to convene a World Gold Conference every two years. This Conference will rotate between the three institutions. In 2009 the next conference will be hosted in South Africa under the auspices of the Western Cape Branch of the SAIMM.

Following the successful conferences on “Treatment of Gold Ores”, held as part of the 44th Annual Confer-ence of Metallurgists in Calgary, Canada in August/September 2005 and “By-and Co-Products and the En-vironment” in Cairns Australia in October 2007, the format will be further expanded at the 2009 Conference in Cape Town, South Africa. It will include Mining, Metallurgy and Geology related themes. In order to co-ordinate the contributions from the participating countries a committee comprising of one representative in each discipline from South Africa, Australia and Canada will be appointed. To ensure a truly international event this team will be responsible for the programme, call for papers as well as inviting and selecting speakers from the three countries. Workshops will be organized in conjunction with the conference.
