The SPE Production and Operations Symposium, a biennial event, focuses on maximizing production and efficiency of existing wellbores.

Providing practical solutions to today’s challenges, the technical program addresses a range of topics including reservoir engineering, drilling and well completions, artificial lift techniques, surface processing facilities, economics and management, HSE and more.

The first Charing Cross International Symposium, held back in 1978, addressed stroke research. According to Greenhalgh, notable speakers at this inaugural included, "My teacher, Professor Gerry Taylor, of Barts and Dr Jesse Thompson of Dallas, each of whom were superb carotid technicians. Interestingly they looked a little alike." Bill Fields, the distinguished neurologist, from Houston, also spoke at this first meeting, which was supported by ICI, as did Professor Jim Yao of Chicago. At the time, carotid endarterectomy was performed well by a number of excellent practitioners, but it was by no means accepted across the board.

The goal of this meeting is to share a broad perspective defining the critical needs for biofuels and to highlight cutting edge research and development efforts that are defining the next generation of biofuel product and process advances. One major deficiency in the advancement of biofuels is the need to do more integrated and cross-disciplinary research. This conference brings together a broad spectrum of core experts to bridge this gap and help to better enable and advance biofuel research efforts globally.

The thirty-third annual meeting of Southeast-Atlantic Section of the Society for the Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM-SEAS 2009) will be held on Saturday April 4, and Sunday April 5, 2009 at University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina. After 4 years of successfully running the respected Thought Leaders International Conference on Brand Management at the Centre for Research in Brand Marketing in Birmingham (UK), the same team of academics is planning to host the next conference from Monday 6 to Tuesday 7 April 2009 in Athens (Greece). The international organising committee is working to ensure a continuation of the tradition that leading thinkers from both the northern and southern hemispheres present refereed papers of a consistently high quality.

This international conference seeks to engender the advancement of knowledge about brand management amongst scholars by disseminating new research and by encouraging the evolution of new research themes. It also aims to narrow the gap between academia and commerce by having presentations from internationally renowned practitioners whose significant senior experience is regarded as being at the cutting edge of application. Parallel tracks of double blind refereed papers will enable authors to gain constructive comments about their papers and extend their knowledge horizon from other researchers.
