International Conference Biogas
Mar 23, 2009 - Mar 25, 2009,
Kloster Banz Bad Staffelstein, Bavaria Germany

Biogas production and utilisation has become a major part of the rapidly growing re-newable energy sector. Over the last couple of years there has been a fast develop-ment in biogas technology and an explosive growth worldwide in agriculture, industry and municipalities. The technology moves forward quickly to high technical standards and improved methods for biogas utilization.
In Europe biogas is being developed on a large scale for stationary heat and power production and as vehicle fuel for the transport sector. More recently upgraded bio-gas is being fed into the natural gas grid or into dedicated pipelines supplying central combined heat and power stations. Biogas produced by energy crops delivers most energy per hectare of all biofuels and is one of the most carbon neutral fuels.
The International Conference Biogas will present recent developments and key trends as well as future strategies on biogas production and utilisation. The aim of the conference is to bring together leading experts on research and development, deci-sion makers from industries and municipalities as well as project developers and policy makers. The conference will take place at the nice Monastery Banz near by Bad Staffelstein. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, New Delhi, Delhi India

IUTAM Symposium on Emerging Trends in Rotor Dynamics is being organized at IIT Delhi under the auspices of International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM) and Indian National Science Academy (INSA).

Rotor dynamics is an important branch of discipline of dynamics that deals with behavior of large variety of rotating machines.Complex system of rotating shaft(s) supported on bearings handle large amount of energy and fluid mass, which gives rise to variety of interesting physical phenomena. Research in rotor dynamics started almost one hundred years back. Early research focused on simple issues like prediction of critical speeds. However with the advent of fast computational facilities, and accurate and versatile measurement techniques, research in this area has accelerated over the past few decades. In the process researchers have observed several new phenomena which are not fully understood even today. The demand from industry for light weight, high performance and reliable rotor-bearing systems is the driving force for research and new developments in the field of rotor dynamics.

The symposium aims at bringing together, leading researchers from all over the world to share their research experiences, and more importantly to set up the directions for future research in rotor dynamics.

Mar 23, 2009 - Mar 24, 2009,
Singapore

Many companies have already introduced a new product process, such as Stage- Gate®, and yet they are still struggling to get the financial results they expected. Productivity – the profit results achieved versus the costs and time to complete projects – is far below what it should be. Projects continually take too long; the development pipeline is clogged with too many projects; and more often than not, key projects are not properly resourced at the right time. Even worse, launched products often fail to generate much excitement in the marketplace and fail to achieve major profits.

With time-to-market so critical, can you really afford to have so many timewasters in your system? And should you put projects on hold until they pass through a formal gate review? Is it possible to adjust your NPD process to accommodate different types of projects and even move to a NexGen Stage- Gate® system – a faster, more scalable and flexible process, which includes an XPress version? And what about the mix and types of projects – are they right, or are you doing too many smaller, insignificant projects…fast but not very profitable?

Some of the things the product developers have done in the interest of saving time and removing waste have actually hurt profits. Don’t make the same mistakes! Remember: the goal here is profitability, not just speed and waste reduction! Top performing companies focus on productivity improvements – they have discovered the secrets to lean, rapid and profitable product development, properly balancing the need for speed with profitability. Discover their secrets and their best practices from the world expert that taught them how.
