The ReLIVE08 conference will be of interest to anyone researching learning and teaching in virtual world environments such as Second Life. We promise an exciting conference programme, including presentations from notable keynote speakers. Explore the power of green at our 2008 Portland Area Conference. The conference headquarters hotels are the DoubleTree Portland Lloyd Center and the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower. Conference registration and most sessions and events will be at the Oregon Convention Center, as will the exhibits and the NSTA Science Store. Additional sessions and events will be held at the DoubleTree and Hilton Hotels.

The conference will begin with concurrent sessions on Thursday, November 20, at 8:00 AM. The conference will end on Saturday, November 22, at 12 Noon with the closing of the exhibits.

It will enable participants to gain valuable insight into global food industry as well as great solutions for your organization.

The Tissue World Asia 2008 Technical Conference will offer delegates a chance to hear about the latest new products and solutions aimed at helping Asian tissue makers get the most out of their operations. In total, during the 1½ day meeting, approximately 15 papers will be given, with sequential translation in English and Chinese.

Based on requests from delegates and speakers, as well as exhibitors, the location of the conference has been moved to be closer to the exhibition. Thus the 2008 conference will be held in one of the rooms above the exhibition hall in the INTEX Building, offering easier access between the conference and the exhibition.

In the need for evolution (if not revolution) of current network architectures and the Internet, autonomous and spontaneous paradigms will be key features of the Networks of the Future. Examples are:

* spontaneous and opportunistic networks such as wireless sensor networks, ad hoc networks, smart communicating object networks etc. will provide optimum service and connectivity to the end user;
* autonomous networking schemes will be used as a means to control the increasing complexity of network architectures and to reduce the operational cost of existing services.

The Institut TELECOM and its subsidiaries (EURECOM and Telecom Lille1) have been addressing these topics for several years. A specific internal program (“Programme Initiative”) was launched in 2005 to stimulate research activities on all relevant aspects of spontaneous and autonomous networking schemes (architecture, security, middleware, modeling…) as part of the Institute’s strategic research agenda.This “Programme Initiative” enters in 2008 its final year.

With the support of the Fondation TELECOM, the Institut TELECOM organizes an open Symposium in order to conclude the “Programme Initiative”. The industrial partners of the Institut TELECOM are associated to this Symposium through the Foundation TELECOM. The Symposium will present the main results and visions of the Institut TELECOM, its subsidiaries and its Foundation partners on this topic. Worldwide experts will also be invited to deliver Keynote Speeches and Talks. The Symposium will therefore provide an excellent opportunity to present recent results, exchange views and identify common interests, objectives and visions.

A basic challenge for statistics at the interface of different sciences is the development of methods for the analysis of massive data sets, complex data structures and high-dimensional predictors. The objectives of the newly founded German-Swiss (DFG-SNF) research group FOR916 are specific development and analysis of statistical regularization methods for complex data structures as they may occur in different fields of application. Special focus is put on methods in which regularization is given by qualitative constraints on the structure or geometry of data models.



The scope of this conference is to bring in contact international researchers with interests in statistical regularization and the members of the research group, in order to initiate scientific exchange between the group and the community.
