Brasses Revisited

In recent years the study of monumental brasses has attracted a new generation of scholars and in particular from postgraduate students examining, and questioning, their context as a source of historical study. At this one day conferences speakers will reflect on the iconography of brasses, including their design, function and composition, and also how they were used to promote the role of lineage and family in medieval England. Papers will also be offered on their role and place within the community and also examine their use in expressions of piety and salvation.

Hereditary Breast, Gynecologic, and Colon Cancer Syndromes: Identification and Management of Your At-Risk Patients

This program is designed to educate health care providers on how to identify and manage patients who are at high risk for hereditary cancer. After attending this event, providers will be better able to identify patients at risk for hereditary cancer who may benefit from genetic testing. In addition, they will be able to help patients with hereditary cancer syndromes to implement the appropriate cancer screening and risk reduction strategies which ultimately lead to decreased cancer risk in this high-risk population. Topics discussed in the conference will be the identification of appropriate candidates for genetic testing, interpretation of genetic test results, and risk reduction strategies including screening, chemoprevention, and prophylactic surgery.
