6th World Stroke Congress
Sep 24, 2008 - Sep 27, 2008,
Reed Messe Wien GmbH , Vienna Austria

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Stroke has become a major challenge for health policy and for medicine and is now the second most common cause of death world-wide. A continuing rise of incidence rates in Asia and other regions of the world has made stroke a global problem that can only be tackled with a global strategy.

We believe that the proportions of this new and old epidemic must be made visible and that solutions to reduce this burden must be developed with scientific methods. This congress gives the opportunity to present such solutions and to discuss their scientific merits and impact. Thus, this congress has a focus on future and global perspectives towards this challenge.

Scientific sessions will cover all aspects of stroke, including basic research, clinical applications, recovery and rehabilitation. We welcome all medical doctors and other professionals from all over the world to join this discussion and become part of a world-wide network of collaboration against stroke.

We take great pride in the fact that the 6th World Stroke Congress will take place in Vienna and we make ourselves gladly available to ensure a successful meeting for all participants.

We therefore welcome you to Vienna, the city of music and traditional hospitality with its world-famous
culture and grand historical sites.

Yours sincerely,
Michael Brainin

2nd US Carbon Finance Forum
Sep 24, 2008 - Sep 25, 2008,
Metropolitan Club, New York, New York United States

Global carbon trading exceeded $30bn in 2006 and the trend is set to continue for 2007. If a federal trading scheme is adopted in the US, the resulting market could dwarf this figure within a few years. Opportunities for investors and traders will be immense, whilst at the same time, the risks faced by industrial companies demand an immediate response.

The US Carbon Finance Forum will bring together investors with industry and government to tackle the crucial issues now facing the US.

Key conference topics:

• How will a federal program intertwine with regional schemes?
• What will be the scope of market oversight – and by whom?
• What initiatives are already being taken by industry and investors, and how are they positioning themselves towards future trading?
• Beyond Kyoto: What are the current opportunities for investment in global carbon markets and how can their potential be realized?

The 3rd Annual Medical Documentation and Coding Conference
Sep 24, 2008 - Sep 25, 2008,
Las Vegas, Nevada United States

Preventing lost revenue is a matter of survival for hospitals. In fact, physicians have more to lose than just time. When physicians appropriately document their patients' severity of illness, their profile is more accurate and both the hospital and the physician are correctly paid for their services.

Hospitals currently face more stringent requirements than ever before in order to obtain 100% reimbursement. To get complete reimbursement, doctors must capture more specific medical data including documenting for severity of illnesses under MS-DRG regulations. Doctors and hospital staff across the nation say they are struggling to grasp the new MS-DRG regulations and manage the increasing amounts of documentation required.

In response, hospitals say they are trying to implement process improvement initiatives for documentation and coding compliance that ensures proper reimbursement. When documentation is incomplete or inappropriate, hospital staff wastes time, energy and money to obtain the missing information. Physician queries ensue and claims remain in A/R too long -- or are denied, resulting in lost revenue.

Extension and understanding of the Software & Systems Risk Management Plan with ISO 14971
Sep 24, 2008 - Sep 24, 2008,
2600 E. Bayshore Road Palo Alto, CA Palo Alto, California United States 94303

Risk Management plans are generally written in a unilateral understanding. When one focuses on drug and device as a combination, risk management plans almost always forget to include the flexibility provided by the system environment in risk mitigation. For instance, from the software perspective, procedural risk mitigations can be ongoing code reviews. From the hardware perspective, the device could be fail-safe and have a delayed start to enable the initial protocols to be exercised. The drug environment calls for a more rigorous risk management plan which can be easily adapted in the device world. Nevertheless, it is essential to consider the device world failure modes in a pragmatic fashion to determine how the risks are mitigated.

This presentation will provide an understanding of the devices and drug risk management plan and its application in risk mitigation. Appropriate examples will be provided that will suggest how risks can be mitigated and what practical approaches need to be considered to assure integrity in the risk management plan.

2008 International Conference on Public Administration (ICPA)
Sep 24, 2008 - Sep 26, 2008,
Radisson University Hotel, Minneapolis,, Minnesota United States

ASPA, the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (USETC), and University of Minnesota Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs (UMN) are sponsoring the 2008 International Conference on Public Administration (ICPA). The conference will be held at the University of Minnesota on September 24-26, 2008.

The conference theme, Building Bridges to the Future: Leadership and Collaboration in Public Administration focuses on creating stable bridges to the future to ensure that issues and challenges such as privatization and information communication are turned into opportunities, not obstacles.

Now in its fourth year, the International Conference on Public Administration seeks to bring academics, practitioners and business leaders together to discuss issues of leadership in this era of globalization. What emerging public issues and challenges should we focus on to ensure that sound, principled governance worldwide moves forward, not backward, in the twenty-first century? This is especially the case with leadership and collaboration in public administration. New styles, strategies, and approaches to leadership are necessary as public organizations function more like networks than hierarchies in a shared-power world.

So, where does a company look to ensure their compliance is structured and prioritized by risk? How to create and blend the Risk Management File findings into the company's internal and external audit plans? How is it established, maintained, formally updated, and documented? Learn from others mistakes - current FDA 483 observations. The receptionist - an auditor's first company contact. Strategic perception. Arrangements for and facilitation of the outside audit. Training personnel on how to be "audited". Close outs "musts". Where and how to draw the "line in the sand". Responses - how, what, frequency. Avoiding Warning Letters.
