South Florida Fairgrounds, West Palm Beach, Florida United States

Florida Sportsman Magazine will host their thirteenth annual Fishing Show and Boat Show on Sept. 15-16 and the popular magazine promises that the Show will be bigger and better than previous years, with ongoing seminars, kids’ events, hands-on instruction and demonstrations. The most popular part of the event--a huge indoor tackle sale--will fill the 60,000 square-foot Expo Hall, with fishing boats and accessories added to the mix.

One of the centerpiece attractions of the Show is the Riggin’ it Right Academy, Offshore and Inshore” says Show Director Robin Smillie. “Our magazine has a sharp focus on instruction and how-to, so this classroom setting is our way of bringing the pages of Sportsman to life.”

Bacterial Networks (BacNet/08)
Sep 13, 2008 - Sep 18, 2008,
Hotel Eden Roc Sant Feliu de Guixols, Costa Brava Spain

BacNet/08 will cover the mechanisms of information collection, integration and implementation in bacteria. Research in the past decades has unveiled the metabolic and regulatory circuitry of bacterial cells in unprecedented detail. This provides an excellent opportunity to analyse the physiology of these organisms on a systems level using quantitative, model-driven approaches.

The strength of the meeting is that it will bring together cutting edge research from related but often non-intersecting fields to allow cross-fertilization of ideas and concepts. The meeting will actively involve molecular microbiologists, systems engineers, computational modellers, mathematicians, bioinformaticists and systems biologists. BacNet/08 will present sessions on Development, Global Regulators and Second Messengers, Modelling and Engineering Networks, Microbial Cell Biology and Imaging, Regulatory Networks and Switches, Host-Microbe Interactions, and Cell-Cell Communication, and will feature world-leading speakers in all of these fields.

Current Trends in Genitourinary Malignancies (California)
Sep 13, 2008 - Sep 13, 2008,
The Westin Pasadena Pasadena, California United States

The Current Trends in Genitourinary Malignancies regional symposium is designed to provide updates on the clinical management of kidney, bladder, and prostate cancers. Participants will be updated on current concepts in surgical, chemotherapeutic, and multimodality approaches to the treatment of bladder cancer. Relevant data on the molecular elements of prostate cancer and the clinical management of patients with prostate-specific antigen relapse and high-risk localized disease will be covered. Participants will review available clinical data on conventional chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, novel targeted and combination therapy, and immunotherapy for the treatment of advanced and castration-resistant prostate cancer. The molecular biology of the pathogenesis of renal cell carcinoma and trial data on novel and second-generation antiangiogenic agents will be presented. Experts will apprise attendees of relevant trial data in order to aid in choosing individualized treatment for patients with advanced kidney cancer across multiple lines of therapy. This interactive symposium will include didactic sessions, case-based learning, and panel discussions with leading faculty who will offer their opinions regarding the clinical challenges facing practicing physicians.

The purpose of this activity is to inform participants of the latest advances in the treatment of genitourinary malignancies, promote the integration of those advances into the practice setting, and describe future directions in research and clinical trials.
