Energy Health & Safety
Sep 8, 2008 - Sep 10, 2008,
Chicago, Illinois United States

Workplace health and safety is an important issue but this is especially true for those in the energy industry. Companies are now placing more rigorous emphasis on health and safety. Added to this has been the introduction of more stringent regulations such as those issued by the US Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). This clearly indicates that the energy industry realizes the increasing need for effective and efficient management of health and safety issues. Even though companies have sought to improve health and safety, the US Labor Department reported that 5703 workers died in workplace accidents in 2006. Health and safety therefore remains a top priority but this is often not maintained throughout the organization. Involvement of all employees, commitment from management and the development of a total safety culture are some of the major issues, which must be addressed in order to improve health and safety standards in the energy industry.

The marcus evans Energy Health and Safety conference will seek to examine the key issues and challenges associated with health and safety and will facilitate communication and discover ways that knowledge can be shared among the members of the industry

The world has changed since then: climate change has arrived on the top of the political agendas and in the heads of consumers. Emerging market countries like China and India more than ever pursue achieving the western standards of living. Indispensable cutdowns and limitations of CO2-emissions as well as soaring energy and raw material prices spur environmental legislation, technological development and corporate business strategies.

Electronics is a key sector to master the arising challenges. The EGG 2008+ is the platform to show and to discuss how the electronics industry itself adapts to the changing world situation and how it contributes to master the challenges towards sustainable development. The Conference will also host the 1st World ReUse Forum on 7 September 2008.
