The theme of the Conference is: “Congregationalism, Denominationalism, and the Body of Christ.” From the beginning, the Believers Church tradition has shown a strong propensity to form communities characterized by mutual accountability and common witness. At times, the self-understanding of the community concentrated on local congregations. At other times the accent was on larger communities and denominations. The temptation to individualism has also influenced Believers Churches.

The Conference will centre on ecclesiology and its implications for an understanding of Christian community. Biblical images of the church as the people of God, the body of Christ and the community of the Holy Spirit will offer theological focus for the discussion. Current interest in the Trinitarian model for Believers Church ecclesiology will be explored. As well, temptations posed by both congregationalism and denominationalism will be identified and debated.

Solar Taiwan: The 2nd International Solar Exposition
