Investment in real estate has become a global affair. Cross-border capital flows in the property markets can now be counted in billions of dollars. To achieve the best possible return on real estate investment it is vital that investors keep abreast of the economic, political and property scene across a wide canvas.

For a capital-intensive asset class such as commercial real estate, the impact of tighter debt has been swift and significant. The bigger picture would show that commercial real estate is now a global asset class - just like stocks, bonds, and private equity. While the US and the UK have hit an air pocket, real estate markets in continental and Eastern Europe are still climbing. Real Estate Opportunities (REO): Europe 2008 is a business conference - platform for global and European real estate developers, investors and property asset managers to engage in new ventures be it real estate development projects, property investment funds or financing real estate acquisition strategies.

The Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) is currently introducing special incentives to encourage businesses to invest in Thai environmental programs. Company income taxes will be cut for 70% of investment in pollution control for up to three years. And exemption of import tax on machinery and equipment is another plus.

The Thai government has earmarked several industrial sectors that need immediate help. One is the Maptaphut industrial estate which is set to spend around four billion baht on pollution control equipment and programs.

To have a profitable business, one of the best places to do it is at Entech Pollutec Asia 2008 in Bangkok. Government representatives from these countries as well as business entrepreneurs will be gathered at BITEC next June and looking to meet you.

Investing in 130/30 Funds
Jun 4, 2008 - Jun 5, 2008,
Melia White House, London, England, United Kingdom

As institutional investors continue their indefatigable quest for alpha, the interest in 130/30 funds show no signs of cooling down. With approximately $80 billion already invested in these products, experts predict an explosion in demand for 130/30s over the next few years, specially driven by pension funds.

Often described as a hybrid investment trend, a “hedge fund lite”, or even the “new net long”, 130/30 strategies still pose considerable questions to prospective investors:

Ø Do 130/30 funds produce alpha more efficiently?
Ø Is 130/30 the optimal level of leverage?
Ø How will these funds fit into existing portfolios?
Ø How to incorporate risk management into a 130/30 fund?
Ø How to select a skilled fund manager and monitor performance?
Ø Which will deliver, quantitative or fundamental techniques?
Ø What is the legal & tax framework affecting 130/30?

This conference was designed to provide answers to these and other burning questions, providing strategic information to institutional investors considering new approaches in the quest for alpha.
