It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the 45th ERA-EDTA Congress in Stockholm from May 10 to May 13, 2008.

The congress will take place at the Stockholm International Fairs and Congress Centre, a
modern complex, conveniently situated just outside Stockholm and accessible in just 10 minutes by commuter train which runs from the city centre every 6-10 minutes.

The scientific programme will address the latest advances in both basic and clinical research as well as up-to-date information on clinical care in general. Clinical nephrology, paediatric nephrology, renal replacement therapy including haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and renal transplantation as well as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular and other complications in renal disease will be discussed in the form of lectures, mini-lectures, symposia and courses, as well as in industry-sponsored symposia.

We want to encourage young investigators to submit abstracts reporting original research
data. Abstracts will be selected for presentation as oral communications or posters. Compared to previous ERA-EDTA congresses the number of oral communications will be increased. Also, morning and afternoon poster sessions will take place without any other parallel activities, finally the most interesting posters will be selected for oral presentation and discussion.

Medicine and Me: Sleep Apnoea

'Medicine and Me' meetings aim to provide a forum in which patients' concerns about their illness are given top priority. The meetings provide an opportunity for patients and their families to share their experiences, to hear about the latest research and to question the experts.

The programme for this meeting includes presentations from four people with sleep apnoea, addressing issues concerning diagnosis, treatment options and conditions associated with sleep apnoea. Each of these presentations will be followed by a response from an expert on sleep apnoea, who will discuss the issues raised.
The last part of the meeting will be an extended interactive panel discussion involving all the speakers and the audience.
