Mar 27, 2008 - Mar 30, 2008,
Fairmont Monte Carlo, 12 Avenue des Spélugues, Monte Carlo Monaco

Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive care Society, we thank you for your interest in the Society’s activities and its forthcoming meeting PCICS Europe 2008.

Approximately one third of admissions of children to intensive care units are related to cardiac diseases, the vast majority congenital heart defects. Most of these children require heart surgery in the first weeks and months of life involving complex surgical and intensive care management. Much of the progress in recent years in improving survival has focused on better pre and postoperative intensive care. The PCICS is dedicated to bringing together an international group of physicians, surgeons, nurses and other related professionals to meet, discuss and learn how better to manage these deserving and challenging children.

We genuinely seek a constructive engagement with our colleagues and hope to see you in Monaco.

Warmest regards
Anthony Chang
President, PCICS

There is a strong correlation between a unique and well articulated customer strategy and customer loyalty, but many companies find that they lack a full understanding of what their customers really want. Often, a disconnect exists between the metrics that are used to evaluate the customer experience and the needs, requirements and expectations of those customers. Creating a positive customer experience requires strategic preparation, continual intelligence gathering, the ability to adapt flexibly with innovative responses to customers, and the integration of a CEM mentality throughout the organization. At The Conference Board's 2008 Customer Experience Management Conference, industry leaders will reveal how they have created customer centric organizations that deliver results.

Baltimore, Maryland United States

The 2008 Transformation of the College Library Workshop will be the last in a series of highly successful workshops that began in 2002 that have focused on the dramatic changes now occurring in college libraries. Intended to help small and mid-sized colleges and universities deal successfully with those changes, this year's workshop will focus on information literacy as a fundamental element of liberal education and as a powerful instrument for the transformation of the library and its place in the academic life of the campus. With this focus, the workshop will address such critical issues as the role of the library in teaching and learning through collaboration between librarians and faculty members; the changing use and conception of the physical space of the library; the challenges of using technology in improving students’ learning; implementing institutional change; and assessing the institution-wide impact of changes in library services. Institutions are especially likely to find the workshop beneficial if they are actively working to strengthen their informational literacy programs, encouraging faculty members and librarians to work together, and fostering collaboration between information technology and library staffs.

National Cityscapes Conference
Mar 27, 2008 - Mar 29, 2008,
Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio United States

This conference explores the intersections between the urban environment, the humanities, and social change, considering the city as a physical, political, economic, and social entity and as real, imagined, and remembered places that inspire and inform some of the most important work in the humanities. Conference papers address the contributions of the arts and humanities to our understanding of the city by presenting both the historic constitutive factors of the city and issues of urbanism today. Local, national, and international artists and scholars will present the city as a crucible of creative change, investigating its relationship with human cultures of the past and present and its place in envisioning possible futures. This latter aspect is especially significant today, when many cities, particularly older cities like Cleveland, are challenged by profound shifts in population, infrastructure, politics, self-identity as well as the globalization of capital and degradation of the environment.

4th Annual Monoclonal Antibodies Conference
Mar 27, 2008 - Mar 28, 2008,
Bonhill House, 1-3 Bonhill Street, London, England, United Kingdom

Monoclonal antibody therapies have been posting the fastest growth within the protein therapeutics market easily outstripping the growth rate of 0.6% in the more traditional, small molecules market. With key products forecast to record peak sales growth and the launch of new products, this rapid expansion is set to continue. In addition to occupying a sector of the market that is insulated from generic competition, mAbs have the advantage of primarily addressing high unmet need therapy areas such as oncology and AIID. Hundreds of monoclonal antibodies are presently undergoing various stages of clinical development. Many in the industry are utilizing ex vivo libraries and development of transgenic mice which generate antibodies with a human protein sequence instead of a mouse protein sequence, thus allowing for the development of mAbs with higher human composition. Alliances between pharmaceutical and biotech companies are a key driver of the current mAb market. With big pharma backing smaller biotech companies in their research and clinical programs, and thus funding vital manufacturing facilities, there is little reason why the mAb market will not continue to flourish. Delivered by a panel of expert speakers Visiongain’s 4th Annual Monoclonal Antibodies in Therapeutics, will provide the ideal forum for leading companies, and those with emerging products or technologies to collaborate and exchange ideas. This two- day programme will examine strategies employed by biotechnology companies and pharmaceutical firms to develop and market products in this highly exciting market sector, and discuss the advantages and limitations of antibody-based products, patent issues and applicability.
