Reservoir Compartmentalization Conference
Mar 5, 2008 - Mar 6, 2008,
Burlington House, London, England, United Kingdom

Modern exploration and production portfolios often contain fields in which hydrocarbon trapping and disruption to dynamic fluid flow, is influenced by complex distributions of faults, fractures and stratigraphic heterogeneities. Understanding the nature of static and dynamic compartmentalization in these fields, is a key to locating connected reserves, identifying unswept blocks, and safely optimising field development, to increase production rates and ultimate recovery.

This 2-day international conference will examine approaches to recognition, characterisation and prediction of geological controls on Reservoir Compartmentalization - through integration of geoscience and reservoir engineering studies (structure, geomechanics, geophysics, stratigraphy, sedimentology, diagenesis, fluids and pressures). We aim to attract contributions from industry and academic researchers, specialist service providers, and practitioners. We believe this will provide a collective benchmark of the modern science and related technology applied to Reservoir Compartmentalization

Web 2.0 and Beyond: Applying social and collaborative tools to business problems
Mar 5, 2008 - Mar 6, 2008,
London, England, United Kingdom

There is no doubt that we are now entering the "Web 2.0 generation", a time which especially values dynamic, interactive, open and collaborative. Web 2.0 is changing the way we are living and the way we do business. "The key issues for Web 2.0 users will be around authenticating who you are dealing with, as the technology is increasingly used for business purposes, including customer feedback" (Philip Virgo). However, a key challenge for them is how to integrate these new technologies within the enterprise and figure out which best suit their needs, and will make inter- and intra-organisational communications easier and more effective. Meanwhile, although Web 2.0 becomes influential and powerful, a cross-industry survey shows that "33% said not knowing how to measure the impact of the technologies is the most serious challenge to implementing them across their company" (Computer Weekly).

This conference presents new viewpoints and case studies explaining the value, application (and perhaps some downside) of social tools in a business context. It looks beyond the "why" of Enterprise 2.0 to explain the "how", giving all participants a true learning experience.

Lifeskills - Cultural Differences
Mar 5, 2008 - Mar 5, 2008,
Elwes Building (University of Gloucestershire) Cheltenham, United Kingdom

Managing diversity is about valuing differences. It is about treating people with dignity and allowing everyone to be able to perform to their level of ability. From the organisation perspective it means improved effectiveness and efficiency; for example customer relations can be much better. There has been a significant change in the expectations of customers in recent years. Both internal and external customers expect customer care, and they are themselves diverse, reflecting the structure of society in general.

Diversity differs from the traditional view of equal opportunities because it covers a much wider framework than legal requirements; it is an important change of emphasis. All employees must accept the differences between individuals and value the benefits that such diversity brings.

To raise awareness among participants that successful organisations are those, which recognises the importance of the diverse humane resource for competitive advantage. To define what managing diversity means. To examine the differences between money and people as a resource. To develop an understanding that everyone is different in some way and should be treated with dignity whatever those differences. To recognise feelings of prejudice against some minority groups and regards to employment. To explore the advantages of a diverse workforce and its role in business success.

Participants consider what managing diversity means and the term is defined:
