Marine Climate Change Conference
Feb 20, 2008 - Feb 20, 2008,
Burlington House, London, England, United Kingdom

The aim of this conference is to bring together the science of past and present climate change in order to inform us about the future. Our understanding of anthropogenic influences on climate has improved since the Third Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, leading to very high confidence in the Fourth Assessment Report that globally averaged human activities since 1750 have resulted in warming. Atmospheric concentrations of climate active gases have increased markedly and now far exceed pre-industrial values determined from ice cores. Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, and evident from observations of increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising global average sea level.

The study of palaeoclimates has sharpened in importance to the point where it is now considered an integral part in informing policy makers on climate change issues, particularly through the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

During this Lyell Meeting, the following themes will be discussed:

* Ocean acidification
* Temperature
* Sea level change
* Climate active gases
* Sea ice
* Climate change policy

Marketers are vividly aware of the potential damage, or good, consumer sentiment in virtual space can have on their brands, their reputations and their bottom line.
