The conference will explore the bases for plant tolerance to salt and water stress, relevant to the worldwide impact that salinity and water deficit stresses have on crop productivity. Bringing together conventional and biotechnological methodologies to understand and improve tolerance to these abiotic stresses, sessions include evolution, stress perception and signal transduction, transcriptional responses and networks, protein expression, modification and interaction, metabolic responses, ion and water homeostasis, oxidative stress, co-ordination of the whole plant response, and strategies for crop improvement.
