The 2009 Gordon Research Conference on Hydrocarbon Resources will provide an international forum for scientists from academia, industry, national laboratories, and other research institutions to focus on forefront, unpublished research issues across this field. Presentations by world leading researchers will address current challenges in the characterization, conversion, and utilization of hydrocarbon resources - including innovative catalysts for hydrocarbon processing and heteroatom removal, heavy oil chemistry, conversion of coal to gas and liquids, conversion of biomass, novel carbon materials, fresh analytical approaches for the characterization of complex energy resources, and computational chemistry for insight into hydrocarbon reactions and catalyst design. Attendees are strongly encouraged to present posters on their own work to stimulate additional discussion and debate. The meeting provides an excellent opportunity for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers to present their work and interact with leaders in their field.
