Optics, Informatics and Communication/Control Technologies are being increasingly interrelated, especially in Industry and what has been called as the Information Society. Optics and Photonics are being applied more and more to Informatics and Cyber-Technologies (Communication and Control). And, likewise, Computational and Communication/Control Technologies are increasingly being applied to the area of Optics and Photonics. Consequently, it is important and useful, for engineers, scientists, practitioners and managers in these fields to participate in events where Optics, Informatics and Cyber-technologies are discussed and related.

OIC 2009 will be oriented 1) to new ideas, models, devices and applications, related to the role of Optics and Photonics in Industry and Information Society, and 2) to applications of Informatics and Communications/Control Technologies in Optics and Informatics.
