The 9th International Conference on Molecular Electronics will be held Friday 12 - Monday 15 December 2008 in Kauai, Hawaii at the Sheraton Kauai. Note that this conference immediately follows the Advanced Heterostructures and Nanostructures Workshop (AHNW) on the Big Island.

In recent years, there have been dramatic advances in molecular electronics. In this edition of the conference, we will emphasize the greatly enhanced understanding and ability to measure components, structures, and devices at every level. These underpinnings are necessary if molecular electronics is ever to be turned into technology or applied in related areas.

Key advances include:

○ The development of atomic-scale technology to create multi-access in-plane technology for single molecules;
○ The development of new testbeds in combination with precise bottom-up assembly leading to new insights and understanding;
○ The design and synthesis of molecules with increasing electronic functionality, and
○ Theoretical advances enabling substantially greater understanding of interconnected single molecular systems, interpretation of data, and design rules for classical or quantum molecular electronic circuits.
