The concept of sustainability, environmental responsibility and ‘green-ness’ in general has risen to the top of the political and consumer agenda over the past few years. It is now considered ‘cool to be green’ and everyone is trying to get involved. UK retailers are queuing up too – Marks & Spencer has a packaging reductions programme, bag levy and is committing to bioplastic materials, Ikea has banned plastic carrier bags from its stores and Sainsbury’s has changed its carrier bags to contain recycled material.

At the second EPN Sustainable Plastics Packaging conference we will look at every aspect of minimising the environmental impact of plastics packaging, what the carbon footprint of plastics packaging is, how plastics compare with alternative materials, how consumers can be convinced where plastics are a better solution, as well as showcasing innovative and commercial solutions.
