Speciality Pharma business-models have arisen to catalyse this growth and recent breakthroughs by several companies within the sector, specifi cally through clinical trials, reflect the realisation of this potential.

The next stage for such companies will be to capture niche markets in pain management in order to develop their portfolio of products which include a combination of formulated active entities working through either conventional routes of administration e.g. orally, or in conjunction with novel or improved drug-delivery technologies.
