• Educators, parents, peers, and others in the community are role models to develop attitudes, abilities, and success in reading.

• Reading is a life-long activity that improves the quality of a person’s life.

• Each individual should have the opportunity to learn to read through effective instruction, motivation, and encouragement.

• We become better readers by reading.

•Successful reading instruction requires human and financial resources made available through a variety of venues.

• Students should have access to current and useful books and other printed materials in their classrooms and libraries.

• The love, value, and purpose of reading should be fostered by all educators in partnership with the home, school, business, and community.
