Highlights: There have been very few meetings that specifically consider the ion channels involved in synaptic transmission, how they assemble, and reach the synapse and how they regulate synaptic function in a dynamic manner. We aim to bring together a number of groups working mainly but not exclusively in mammalian systems, to discuss both pre- and postsynaptic trafficking and regulation of the ion channels that are involved in synaptic transmission, and how these can be disrupted in disease.
