Nano-Molecular Analysis for Emerging Technologies III & Surface Science of Biologically Important Interfaces 10

Nov 05, 2008 - Nov 06, 2008
National Physical Laboratory (NPL) London, England, United Kingdom

Highlights

Understanding and controlling the behaviour of biological molecules at interfaces is fundamental to many emerging technologies, including novel medical devices, biochemical assays and nano-medicine. Obtaining such understanding presents a challenge for surface analysts because traditional methods do not provide the necessary detail and, additionally, may alter the surface during analysis. Novel approaches are therefore required.

This two-day meeting will focus upon advances in the analysis of biological materials under ambient conditions, through such methods as scanning probe microscopy and emerging mass spectrometry, and the interaction of biological systems with surfaces and nanoparticles. The highly successful NMAET series concentrates on in-depth, frontier issues in surface and nano-analysis and this year's meeting will be held in conjunction with the 10th SSBII meeting. Both NMAET and SSBII attract world-leading scientists from industry and academia, and this meeting will enable a lively and engaging discussion on the frontier issues in biomolecular surface analysis.
