The workshop focuses on theoretical and empirical research on the labour market for scientists and engineers. Topics of interest include amongst others: • the choice for science and engineering studies • international comparisons of knowledge systems (institutional differences) and their effects on the market for scientists and engineers • the labour market entrance of graduate scientists and engineers (including PhD’s) • the demand for scientists and engineers • brain drain • career trajectories of scientists and engineers (in the academe and/or commerce, research careers, transition to management, transition to non-technical occupations • labour mobility of scientists and engineers and R&D spillovers • entrepreneurship • women in science and engineering • technical and non-technical competencies of scientists and engineers • human resource management in R&D
