Improving Estimates Of The Rate Of Sea-Level Rise From The Greenland Ice Sheet

May 27, 2008 - May 30, 2008
Calla Millor Mallorca Spain

Highlights

The Greenland Ice Sheet (GrIS) is changing rapidly, and is contributing to global sea-level rise. Greenland’s outlet glaciers have thinned dramatically, mainly because of poorly understood ice dynamic processes. The ice sheet models used to predict sea-level do not include these processes, and consequently underestimate Greenland’s future contribution to sea-level rise. The proposed workshop will establish current understanding, prioritise research needs, and develop proposals to address future GrIS stability.
