Now called the H·E·A·R·T UK Annual Conference, the meeting will be held at the splendid De Havilland Campus, part of the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield, close to Welwyn Garden City and within easy reach of the City, King’s Cross station and Luton Airport.

Targeting an audience of up to 300 the remit for H·E·A·R·T UK is to grow the percentage attendance by those working within primary care whilst sustaining the strong representation from secondary care.

The theme of the H·E·A·R·T UK Annual Conference will look beyond risk prediction to focus on emerging technologies, for the non-invasive detection of “end organ damage” in atherogenesis (the formation of unstable plaques in the arterial wall) including new blood biomarkers, dynamic tests and imaging techniques. Clinical and research applications including disease detection and assessment of response to therapy will be covered in keynote lectures from leading national and international experts in the areas of biomarkers, endothelial function testing (pulse wave velocity), IVUS & virtual plaque histology, imaging (MRI, Multislice CT), genetics/systems biology/metabolomics of atherosclerosis.
