The number of burns in a society is a good indicator of its cultural and economic status. In the Nordic Countries, we are in the fortunate situation that the number of burns is low. Only a small group of health care providers are involved in the treatment and care of individuals whose injuries are so severe that they require admission to a Burns Unit, but many of you reading this are among those few.

The ability to deliver the best possible care to our patients, optimise the use of resources and incorporate new knowledge into routines requires a dialogue between friends with similar interests and goals. This makes our Nordic Burn Meetings with their social interactions an important element of our work, where the development of burn care can be discussed with friends. We therefore encourage you to join us and present not only research results but your own experiences in the form of “how we do it” presentations, as well as put forward, as a presentation, any unsolved problems you would like to discuss at the meeting. Presentations can be either as a poster or an oral presentation. The 11th Nordic Burn Meeting will be held in Uppsala, Sweden, in May 2008. The structure will be similar to previous meetings, but we plan an additional educational afternoon on Thursday with focus groups for separate professionals. We look forward to your participation and hope you will enjoy this new approach.
