The 5th African Independents Forum 2008 (6th October) focuses on the new and fast-growing local African players in Africa, including Nigeria, with assets elsewhere in the Gulf of Guinea, Cameroon, Senegal, North Africa, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Liberia, Eritrea, Mali, Mauritania, Zambia, and elsewhere.

The Conference features 16 Speakers, and is normally attended by 140 senior executives from Africa and around the world.The Forum is a unique opportunity to meet senior management, discuss new deals, evaluate potential, and get an inside track on the African domestic oil and gas game in which the numbers of Independents has grown substantially.

This special event on Independents is supported by several African organisations, including NAPE, and showcases exploration and development projects and potential of African oil and gas players, as well as the issues facing technical partners and investors. In countries such as Nigeria, companies have oil-gas fields onshore, on the shelf and offshore, with some as deepwater acreage holders. The Independents have spread across the Continent. Their hydrocarbon reserves and production is growing, and they will assume more importance in future, given current policies, as both competitors and partners for Independents and even Super-Majors.
