Highlights: The success of kidney transplantation has been limited by three major challenges: development of progressive chronic allograft dysfunction, the need to continue life-long immunosuppression to prevent rejection, and the development of post-transplant complications that is also related to continuous drug therapy.

The main focus of this Nexus Symposium is to present and discuss new developments in areas of pathogenesis, diagnosis and management of chronic allograft dysfunction.

The scientific program has been devised to address these complex issues, adopting the necessary multidisciplinary approach throughout plenary lectures, clinical, basic science and translational sessions and moderated discussions.
