GoingToMeet

The WCN 2009 is a joint meeting between ERA-EDTA and ISN.
After the extremely successful 2003 WCN, ERA-EDTA and ISN have decided to once again join forces to produce a meeting of outstanding scientific quality combined with an extremely rich cultural experience.

We have chosen a disease-oriented thematic organization with six main themes:

* Aetiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of kidney disease
* CKD - epidemiology and consequences
* Acute kidney injury
* End stage kidney disease and dialysis
* Transplantation
* Hypertension, diabetes and vascular disease

Within each theme basic science will be integrated into the clinical context and a major focus will be on the potential of translating research results into novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Major elements of the programme include plenary lectures with the presentation of cutting edge science by world leading scientists, poster sessions with no parallel activities, symposia with integrated mini-lectures and free communications, practical courses and industry-sponsored symposia.
High level continuous nephrological education courses will be offered in several different languages. The congress will be preceded by special fora (organized on the day of the Opening), the aim of which is to create an interactive exchange in areas of particular importance. A small number of attractive satellite meetings will be organized after the main congress. Significant support will be provided to attract young investigators and help them to actively participate in the congress.
