Highlights: The World Maritime University is proud to announce the hosting of an international conference entitled ICCMI2008 – Impacts of Climate Change on the Maritime Industry. A cornerstone of the Silver Jubilee celebration of WMU, this event will attract experts from around the globe to discuss how climate change might affect various marine activities. It will also evaluate the measures that can and have been put in place to respond to the consequences of climate change. In relation to seas and oceans, three main themes frame the conference:

• ISSUES – What is the scientific basis of our understanding of climate change?
• EFFECTS – What are the foreseeable impacts on operations in maritime sectors?
• POLICY – How should legal, policy and governance frameworks evolve to adapt to climate change impacts
