Highlights

Those involved in investigating accidents/incidents need to be able to interview witnesses effectively to obtain detailed and accurate evidence. The course will give delegates the key skills to interview witnesses and obtain witness statements and/or interview victims and suspects. Helpful witnesses must be interviewed to maximise the impact of their evidence. Delegates will consider suspect interviews.

This 2 day course will address:
- How to plan and prepare for an investigative interview
- Carrying out a cognitive interview to maximise the accuracy and detail of witness recollection
- How to structure interviews and different types of interviews including suspects and non-suspects
- Different questioning techniques and when to use them
- The investigator’s power during an interview
- Understanding the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) and the Codes for those involved in criminal cases
