The incorporation of e-based solutions in all areas of business has merits especially in today's networked knowledge economy. However, too many companies and initiatives fail to realize the promised potential. We only need look at the productivity paradox or the digital divide both of which continue to increase. We must ask ourselves why technology is not the silver bullet and what else must accompany web based solutions in order to ensure success. The solutions lie in analyzing the technology conundrum and the underlying dynamics of the current complex global environment in which business is conducted. What are the tools, techniques, strategies and protocols we must embrace in order to realize the full potential of technology in business operations.
