Nanopolymer technology is a fast growing field which is increasingly being applied in most industry sectors. The property changes that nanotechnology offers range from lighter weight materials, through flame retardant polymers, to functionalised surfaces which can enable anti-corrosive, anti-reflective, anti-microbial, anti-scratch composite surfaces or provide barrier properties. Sectors which are primary targets for these new nanocomposite materials are transport, energy, packaging, healthcare, construction, environment, sport, and utilities (including water and hygiene).

* Property improvements achievable with nano-scale ingredients such as lighter weight, improved barrier properties, scratch resistance, anti-microbial, anti-reflective, conducting properties
* Synthesis of nanoparticles
* Biodegradable nanopolymers and nanofillers from renewable sources
* Electrical, thermal or optical applications of nanocomposites
* Polymer films, hybrid polymers and aerogels
* Particle surface modification techniques
* Elastomer nanocomposites
* Production challenges to incorporation and use of nanoclays, nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, or fullerenes in composites and thin film coatings
* Characterisation aspects of incorporating nano-scale ingredients into nanopolymers
* Market data on growth of nanopolymers
* New research and development in the field of nanopolymers
