Highlights: IST-2008 aims to be a showcase for international research on technetium and rhenium, from basic science to applied fields of research. These fields include coordination chemistry, organometallic chemistry, catalysis, radiopharmaceuticals and nuclear medicine, environmental science, cosmo- and geosciences, nuclear fuel processing, and partitioning and nuclear transmutations. The interdisciplinary nature of this symposium is a key to explore a deep understanding of the chemical and physical properties of these two metals.
