The University of Murcia, in collaboration with the University of Cartagena, organizes the Ninth International Congress of the Spanish Association of Economic History (AEHE) to be held on 9-12 September 2008 in the towns of Murcia and Cartagena. Tradicionalmente los Congresos de la AEHE han sido el punto de encuentro de los profesionales y simpatizantes de la disciplina de nuestro país. Traditionally, the Congress of the AEHE have been the meeting point for professionals and supporters of the discipline of our country. Aunque la participación extranjera ha estado presente en anteriores eventos, en esta ocasión la asistencia y la participación de investigadores de otros países se refuerza de manera significativa; de ahí, que el IX Congreso adquiera el carácter de internacional. Although foreign participation has been present at previous events, this time the attendance and participation of researchers from other countries is strengthened significantly, hence, the Ninth Congress acquires matter. Por primera vez, el IX Congreso de la AEHE contará con una nutrida presencia de colegas provenientes de Europa y América, con sesiones especializadas en otras áreas geográficas y en torno a cuestiones universales, algunas de las cuales se realizarán en lengua inglesa. For the first time, the Ninth Congress of the AEHE will have a large presence of colleagues from Europe and America, with special sessions in other geographical areas and around universal issues, some of which will be conducted in English. Pero la mayor participación extranjera vendrá de los países mediterráneos y latinoamericanos. But the biggest foreign participation will come from the Mediterranean countries and Latin America. El Comité de Organización Local y el Comité Científico desean que este IX Congreso de la AEHE sea un éxito de participación y de fructíferos debates como ha venido siendo en los congresos que le han precedido. The Local Organizing Committee and the Scientific Committee would like this Ninth Congress of the AEHE a success of participation and fruitful discussions as has been in the Congress that had preceded it.
