Rovaniemi will host the 34th European Congress of Cytology on 15 18 June 2008. The city is located at the Artic Circle only one hour by plane from Helsinki, and offers the unique atmosphere of midnight sun and the magic of Lapland. The congress venue will be University of Lapland, a modern campus with excellent settings for all congress activities. The European Federation of Cytology Societies, this time with the support of the Finnish Society of Clinical Cytology, will once again bring together clinical physicians, cytopathologists, cytotechnologists and scientists for stimulating interaction around the fine art of cytology.
The topics of the congress will be diverse. In addition to traditional morphology which we will always lean on the program will emphasize supportive and deepening approaches, including immunocytochemistry, computer assisted screening and image analysis, molecular methods and mass screening programs. Relevant recent changes in the classification of tumours will also be highlighted.
