Highlights: The emphasis of the meeting will be comparative genomic analyses of pathogenic and environmental microbes, functional genomics, computational genomics, metagenomics and systems biology in the light of the new technological developments. How genomics has dramatically changed studies concerning the interaction of microorganisms with their environment or with the host like for pathogens, symbionts or commensals will be addressed from multiple points of view. The newest results in this field will be discussed.
