First International Conference on Underground Spaces – Design, Engineering and Environmental Aspects. The conference will discuss the structural and material characterization aspects as well as the trends regarding the utilisation of underground spaces (ranging from, classical excavations to subway constructions, underground sport halls, power stations, waste repositories, underground cities, and many others). In particular the conference will emphasise the environmental aspects, architectural characteristics and concepts that might be applied to make the underground space an integral part of the city planning and a healthy living environment.
