In the ongoing wake of the economic crisis, organisations still face a pressure on streamlining processes to decrease costs and increase customer service levels. These organisations turn to quality management professionals to implement business process excellence (BPE) to achieve this goal.

As the MENA region continues to aggressively grow the need to apply techniques like Lean, Kaizen and Six Sigma and deriving value benefits across sectors is increasingly apparent to directly improve the margins and positively impact the bottom line, aiding the regions ability to compete in the global market.

The implementation of business process excellence is increasing, however the knowledge of how to actually make this strategic transformation is minimal with a clear need for training and education in the area.

A latest survey by Community Interest Group (CIG) showed 34 per cent of firms were planning to use Kaizen methodology, 36 per cent were planning to adopt 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise and Sustain methodologies for workplace improvement, while 27 per cent were keen on Quality Control Circles, 41 per cent for Six Sigma and 30 per cent showed interest in Lean Production Management methodology.
