In recent years, catastrophe bonds, life settlements and other insurance-linked securities (ILS) have emerged as an important new asset class for investors looking to diversify their portfolio and take advantage of a non-correlated asset.

However, knowledge of ILS and their structure still remains inconsistent outside the US and Europe, and Asian investors specifically have not had this complex asset class explained to them in order to pursue more significant participation.
