WaterTech Africa 2010
Aug 02,2010 - Aug 05,2010Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa
-
Highlights
Expanding urbanization, agriculture and manufacturing have led not only to over-extraction of ground and surface water but also contributed to increased pollution levels in freshwater sources. The threat of water scarcity has increased the urgency for investment in freshwater and wastewater infrastructure in a sustainable and equitable manner.
Sub-Saharan Africa requires extensive implementation of water resource management and infrastructure due to low seasonal rainfall and the comparative scarcity of water resources. In South Africa, the Department of Water is now taking critical steps to bridge the development backlog of R10 billion in the current national water resource infrastructure.
WaterTech Africa 2010 will focus on developing and managing existing and future water infrastructure and resources to meet the demands of the future.
