Vietnam is necessarily commissioning more and more power projects to add electricity to the grid in the next few years as it becomes one of Asia’s fastest developing economies. AES and Vinacomin just signed off the first BOT (Build Operate Transfer) power project since Phu My 3 in 2001, marking a new age of foreign sector investment into Vietnamese infrastructure. The results of MOIT’s Master Plan VII will play a big role in deciding exactly how Vietnam’s power sector will be expanded, and this conference is the first commercial forum where that will be discussed. VietPower will be the first commercial conference to be held after the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Power Development Master Plan VII, or PDP 7, will have seen its first draft and the results of it will need to be honestly and practically discussed.
